Description
The TIM Référence sits at the top of Absolue Créations' speaker cable range. It provides the link between the power amplifier and the speakers, and is supplied as pairs sold by length, each example being made up for a given distance between the electronics and the floorstanding speakers.
Its construction is based on a solid-core pure copper conductor, made to the manufacturer's own specification. A solid-core conductor eliminates the contacts between strands found in conventional multi-strand cables. Around this core, the manufacturer layers several materials, each fulfilling a distinct role rather than simply thickening the sheath.
This stacking pursues two complementary aims: electrically isolating the conductor from external interference by means of the aluminium screen and the shielding, and controlling the vibrations of the cable itself through the textile components. It is this combination that the manufacturer highlights to explain the cable's very low operating noise level.
This type of link is intended for installations where the rest of the chain is already highly resolving and where the cabling becomes an audible factor: high-end electronics, speakers capable of rendering a great level of detail, a treated listening room. The choice of length deserves careful thought beforehand, since manufacture is made to measure: it is best to precisely measure the actual cable run, including skirting boards and detours, before setting the dimension. Additional lengths are available in 30 cm increments.

What to check before buying used
The solid-core pure copper does not tolerate repeated twisting: an example that has been unplugged and reconnected several times may show conductor fatigue, or even the beginnings of an internal break invisible from the outside. Check the integrity of the polyethylene sheath and the aluminium screen, as a nick in either compromises the shielding. Also check the condition of the connectors at each end and the flexibility of the cotton braid, which can stiffen or fray over time.
