Description
The UL-TIM XLR is a balanced interconnect cable designed and made in France by Absolue Créations. It is intended to connect two audio devices fitted with XLR outputs and inputs, in a system where the quality of the link between components is considered critical.
Its construction relies on silver conductors, a metal renowned for its conduction qualities, combined with Teflon insulation. The rhodium-plated connectors ensure a treated contact that limits oxidation over time. What to check before buying used
Silver conductors and Teflon insulation age well, but check that the sheath remains supple and free from marked kinks near the plugs, the area most exposed to mechanical wear. Test continuity and the absence of contact noise by gently manipulating the XLR connectors: play in the locking mechanism or tarnished rhodium plating indicates heavy use. Also ensure the shielding has not been damaged by tight folding or storage coiled too tightly, which can cause hum or interference when put back into service.
