Description
The X-i50 BT is a stereo integrated amplifier designed to drive a pair of speakers directly, without additional electronics. It combines a toroidal transformer power supply and power transistors mounted in a Push-Pull configuration, together with a rigid chassis organised to separate the internal functions.
Rated power reaches 2x50 watts into 8 ohms and 2x65 watts into 4 ohms, allowing the amplifier to drive current-hungry speakers without struggling on transients. Operation is in Class AB, but a dedicated switch on the rear of the unit activates a High Bias mode that shifts the amp into pure Class A up to approximately 15 watts, with automatic switchover to Class AB beyond that threshold. Frequency response extends from 10 Hz to 30 kHz (-3 dB), total harmonic distortion remains below 0.15%, the signal-to-noise ratio reaches 85 dB and channel separation exceeds 70 dB, with a bass/treble tone control of +/- 10 dB.
The connectivity stands out for its range: an MM phono input, seven analogue stereo RCA inputs, a REC OUT recording output, a PRE OUT output, an AMP IN input, a USB type A port for playing MP3 files from a flash drive or external hard disk, as well as a 6.35 mm jack headphone output on the front panel. A built-in Bluetooth SBC receiver also allows wireless streaming from a smartphone or tablet.
This model is aimed at those who wish to centralise several sources around a single amplifier, including a turntable with an MM cartridge, while retaining the option of wireless listening or playback from a USB drive, within a classic stereo system.

What to check before buying used
On an amplifier of this generation, the volume and tone potentiometers as well as the input selector switches are the first points to test, checking for crackling or dropouts when operated. Also check that the High Bias switch shifts properly between Class A and Class AB modes, and that the Bluetooth SBC receiver and USB type A port function correctly. A check of the capacitors' condition and of proper cooling around the toroidal transformer is also recommended after several years of use.
