What to check before buying used
On this integrated tube amplifier, check the condition and matching of the valves (12AX7 and 12AU7) as well as whether their original references are still fitted, as a recent replacement is not always disclosed. Bias adjustment, accessible via the front-panel screw, should have been carried out correctly: incorrect calibration prematurely wears the valves and can affect the sound in both ultralinear and triode modes. Also test the switching function via the remote control, as this contact is prone to wear, and listen to each channel separately to detect any hum related to the transformer or the power stage capacitors.
