Description
The ADL Stride is a portable headphone amplifier from ADL By Furutech, designed to improve the audio reproduction of portable sources such as a computer, an iPod, an iPhone or an iPad. It comes in an aluminium housing, available in white or black, designed to accompany the user on the move.
The unit features a conversion chip capable of handling resolutions up to 24-bit 192 kHz, allowing full use of high-resolution audio files stored on a computer via the USB mini B input. For Apple sources, the ADL Stride can be paired with the i-D30PS cable, which picks up the audio stream before it passes through the iDevice's output stage, thereby avoiding the degradation caused by the built-in electronics of the player or smartphone. The high-performance amplifier it houses is capable of driving headphones with an impedance ranging from 12 to 600 ohms, covering a wide range of models, from portable headphones to more electrically demanding ones.
On the housing, there is a volume potentiometer, a gold-plated 3.5 mm analogue line input and a gold-plated 3.5 mm headphone jack output. Charging is done via a USB port, with a stated battery life of 80 hours on a full charge, a feature designed particularly for long journeys or long-haul flights.
