Description
The Magnum Dynalab ST-2 FM antenna is a vertical half-wave antenna intended to improve FM tuner reception, both in urban environments and in areas with limited reception. It stands apart from single-element dipole antennas through its ability to pick up distant stations from all directions.
Its vertical design concentrates reception on the horizontal plane, delivering a stronger signal to the tuner while limiting flutter and fading. This vertical polarisation also makes it less susceptible to multipath interference, a common issue in FM reception. The antenna is built around a PH17-7 stainless steel whip, connected via a gold-plated coil coupling to a precision-wound loading coil, itself housed in a stainless steel enclosure.
Being of half-wave design, the ST-2 antenna requires neither a ground plane nor a counterweight. This feature allows for very flexible installation: on a mast, on a balcony, hung from a window, or even from a tree.
