The MRX 540 8K is an audio/video receiver from Anthem, combining 7.2 preamplification with amplification across 5 channels. It natively supports the object-based sound formats Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, as well as IMAX Enhanced, delivering a multichannel sound stage in a lounge or a dedicated home cinema room.
The amplification section delivers 100 watts per channel into 8 ohms, and up to 130 watts into 4 ohms when only two channels are driven, providing headroom for driving speakers that are less easy to load. The frequency response extends from 20 Hz to 30 kHz, with a signal-to-noise ratio of 110 dB and a total harmonic distortion plus noise of -100 dB: figures that translate into clean reproduction, free of audible colouration at typical listening levels. The unit also incorporates ARC (Anthem Room Correction), an acoustic calibration system that adapts sound reproduction to the characteristics of the listening room.
