Description
The Arcam Radia A25+ is a stereo integrated amplifier that brings together the power stage, a digital-to-analogue converter and a phono input within a single chassis, allowing it to drive a pair of speakers directly from digital, analogue or wireless sources, without any additional electronics.
The power stage is based on a 5th-generation class G design, delivering 100 W per channel into 8 Ohms and 165 W into 4 Ohms, with harmonic distortion of 0.002% at 80% power into 8 Ohms at 1 kHz: a design intended to combine dynamic control with low distortion even under high load. Digital-to-analogue conversion is handled by an ESS ES9018 DAC, fed by a varied array of connections including two coaxial inputs and one optical input accepting streams up to 192 kHz, as well as a USB-C input compatible with PC, Mac or Raspberry Pi. The wireless link relies on aptX HD Adaptive Bluetooth and the Auracast function, for streaming a 24-bit HD audio signal to the amplifier or to Bluetooth headphones. The built-in MM phono input allows a turntable fitted with a moving-magnet cartridge to be connected directly.
This model is aimed at hi-fi enthusiasts who wish to centralise several sources, turntable, computer, Bluetooth devices, digital players via coaxial or optical inputs, around a single amplifier capable of delivering comfortable power into both 8 and 4 Ohms, with a headphone output for individual listening.

What to check before buying used
On a class G amplifier such as this one, the main wear points concern the power stage components and the mechanical parts used with every handling: volume potentiometer, input selector and RCA, phono and USB-C connectors. Each input should be tested, including the MM phono input and headphone output, along with proper operation of the aptX HD Bluetooth, to rule out any crackling or loose contacts before purchase.
