Description
The Atacama NeXXus PRO STUDIO is a stand designed to support a compact speaker or a monitor, placing it at the desired listening height and isolating it from the floor. It belongs to the British manufacturer's NeXXus range and is available in several heights, from 20 cm to 100 cm, allowing the tweeter position to be adjusted to ear level depending on the seat, desk or console used.
The structure is made of thick steel and assembly relies on high-strength fixings, the aim being to limit micro-movements of the stand when the speaker is working. The central column is hollow and designed to receive Atacama's Atabites granules: this filling increases the mass and damping of the assembly, which results in tighter, less trailing bass when listening. The top plate is cut from 4 mm thick steel, a section sufficient to prevent any flexing under load.

What to check before buying used
First check the condition of the welds and high-strength fixings: a stand that has travelled a lot may show slight play at the base, which can be corrected by tightening. On lacquered examples, impact marks and early signs of corrosion are concentrated on the edges of the top plate and on the floor plate. Ask whether the Atabites are included with the pair, as a stand sold empty does not offer the same bass behaviour as a weighted stand. Finally, check the presence and condition of the original spikes or feet, as well as their locknuts.
