Description
The GT 3 HD is a 3-way floorstanding speaker from Atohm, built with a bass-reflex architecture. It combines drivers from the Absolute Series range, developed in-house by the brand, to cover the entire audible spectrum with a precise frequency split between the different transducers.
The bass section relies on two 18 cm drivers (reference LD180CR08), while a 15 cm midrange driver (MLD150CR04) handles the lower midrange register. A 2.7 cm silk dome tweeter (SD28ND04RD) completes the set for the treble. The crossover is first order, with time alignment of the tweeter intended to harmonise reproduction between the drive units. The stated frequency response spans from 35 Hz to 30 kHz, with crossover points at 100 Hz, 150 Hz and 2.5 kHz.
With a sensitivity of 92 dB/2.83 V/1 m and a nominal impedance of 6 ohms, this speaker can be driven by amplifiers of varying power. It accepts a power of 400 watts RMS, with a peak of 1000 W, allowing for high listening levels.

What to check before buying used
When buying used, it is advisable to check the condition of the cones and suspensions of both bass drivers as well as the midrange, which are particularly stressed on this model capable of handling a high peak power. A check of the crossover (first-order components) and the integrity of the silk tweeter dome, which is sensitive to impact and humidity, is also recommended. It is worth checking for any deformation of the bass-reflex cabinet, particularly around the port, which directly affects bass reproduction.
