Description
The GT Center HD is a 3-way centre speaker in a bass-reflex configuration, designed by Atohm to hold the centre channel of a multichannel installation alongside the other models in the GT Series range. It is intended to reproduce dialogue and voices with precision in a high-end Home Cinema or hi-fi system.
It features two 15 cm Atohm woofer-midrange drivers (reference LD150CR04) and a 2.7 cm silk dome tweeter (reference SD28ND04RD), with first-order filtering and time alignment of the tweeter designed to improve the spatial coherence of the sound. Its power handling reaches 100 watts RMS, 200 watts peak, for a nominal impedance of 6 ohms and a sensitivity of 90 dB (2.83 V / 1 m). The crossover frequencies are set at 150 Hz and 2.5 kHz, for a stated frequency response of 45 Hz to 30 kHz.
This model is aimed at enthusiasts wishing to complete or reinforce a multichannel installation already equipped with speakers from the GT Series range, seeking consistent performance across front, centre and surround channels. Its centre-channel role primarily suits it to demanding Home Cinema use, but it also finds its place in a multichannel hi-fi configuration.

What to check before buying used
Check the condition of the suspensions on both LD150CR04 woofer-midrange drivers: a tear or sagging of the foam or rubber degrades bass and midrange performance. Also check the silk dome of the SD28ND04RD tweeter, which is prone to denting or puncturing from the slightest contact. Inspect the cabinet and finish of the bass-reflex enclosure, as well as the port, to rule out any looseness, cracking or veneer lifting that could affect the seal of the acoustic loading.
