Atohm GT-SW2-HD SUB

The GT-SW2-HD SUB is an active subwoofer from Atohm, designed to extend the bass register of a stereo or home cinema system. It belongs to the manufacturer's GT range, sharing its piano lacquer finish and clean lines, allowing it to blend visually into an existing system rather than standing out as a mere technical add-on.

The subwoofer is built on a sealed-box architecture, paired with two 23 cm Atohm woofers capable of substantial excursion. The onboard amplification, developed with B&O Ice Power technology, delivers 220 W and reaches down to 23 Hz at -3 dB, a figure that reflects the reproduction of the lowest frequencies without premature roll-off. The active low-pass filter, adjustable from 38 to 150 Hz with adjustable slope and LFE mode, allows precise adjustment of the crossover point with the main speakers, whether for stereo listening or a home cinema configuration using the LFE channel.

The cabinet, ranging from 22 to 45 mm thick depending on the panel, contributes to the rigidity of the subwoofer and to controlling unwanted vibrations, an important point for a product whose very purpose is to generate high sound pressure in the bass register. Connection is made via a stereo RCA low-level input or a high-level input on the speaker terminal block, allowing direct connection to either an integrated amplifier or a home cinema system.

This subwoofer is aimed at a user who already owns quality speakers, floorstanding or bookshelf, and wishes to add a controlled bass extension rather than a simple boost. Its compact format relative to its stated performance also makes it an option for rooms where the bulk of a large traditional subwoofer would be a problem.
