The GT1-HD is a compact 2-way bookshelf speaker, designed by Atohm using a Bass-reflex architecture. It combines a 15 cm bass-mid driver with a 2.7 cm silk dome tweeter, intended to together cover a wide frequency range within a stereo or hi-fi system.
First-order filtering, combined with time alignment of the tweeter, aims to ensure consistency in reproduction between the two transducers. A switch also allows the frequency response to be adjusted, offering the possibility of adapting to the room's acoustics or listening preferences. The stated frequency response extends from 45 Hz to 30 kHz, with a crossover frequency set at 2.5 kHz between the bass-mid driver and the tweeter.

What to check before buying used
Check the flexibility of the 15 cm driver's suspension: sagging or hardening of the foam surround indicates ageing that affects bass reproduction. Listen to the silk dome tweeter on high frequencies to rule out any crackling or loss of brightness, and examine the adjustment switch, whose contacts can oxidise over time. Finally, inspect the cabinet and the bass-reflex port at the rear, which are sensitive to knocks and storage humidity.
