Description
The IN200 Signature is a stereo integrated amplifier from Atoll, designed and manufactured in France following a dual-mono architecture. It combines preamplification and power stage in a single chassis, intended to drive a pair of speakers directly without additional electronics.
Its power output reaches 2 × 120 W into 8 Ω and 2 × 200 W into 4 Ω, allowing it to drive speakers with varying impedance or modest sensitivity. Up to 2 × 50 W, the unit operates in pure class A, an operating mode renowned for signal linearity at typical listening levels, before switching to more conventional operation at higher power levels. The power supply relies on two 340 VA toroidal transformers dedicated to the audio stages, separate from an independent transformer reserved for the digital section, in particular for the optional DAC card.
In terms of connectivity, the amplifier offers five RCA line inputs as well as Tape Out, By-Pass and two Pre-Out outputs, allowing for the addition of a recorder, integration into a home cinema system via By-Pass mode, or connection to external power amplifiers.

What to check before buying used
On this dual-mono integrated amplifier, it is worth checking for any hum or background noise on both channels, a common symptom of a worn filter capacitor or an issue with one of the two toroidal transformers. Class A operation up to 50 W generates significant, continuous heat: the condition of the chassis's natural ventilation and the absence of any signs of internal overheating should be checked. The volume potentiometer deserves testing across its full range, watching for crackling or channel imbalance, as should the protection relays and input switches, which are used every time the source is changed.
