Description
The 7000N Play is a network audio player designed to bring music streaming into a hi-fi system equipped with an amplifier or active speakers. It can be connected in analogue via its RCA line output or digitally via its coaxial and optical outputs, depending on the configuration of the existing setup.
Its maximum sampling frequency reaches 192 kHz / 24 bit, with a digital-to-analogue converter frequency response of ±0.5 dB between 20 Hz and 20 kHz. Total harmonic distortion remains below 0.0005% at 1 kHz for a 2.1 Vrms output, and the signal-to-noise ratio exceeds 115 dB (A-weighted): figures that reflect a signal reproduced with very little background noise and great transparency across the entire audible spectrum.
The variable voltage output, adjustable from 0 to 2.1 V, allows volume to be controlled directly from the player, enabling a direct connection to active speakers without going through a separate preamplifier. A headphone output is also provided, compatible with impedances ranging from 20 to 600 ohms, covering both portable headphones and more demanding models.
The 12V Trigger port adds a practical function in a multi-device setup: it allows the power-up of a compatible amplifier to be synchronised with that of the player, avoiding an extra step each time you listen.
This player is aimed at users wishing to modernise a traditional hi-fi system by adding a network source, without giving up full digital connectivity or fine control over output level. What to check before buying used
The player's headphone output and volume knob deserve a check, as they are often used and can sometimes suffer from poor contacts or jerky operation. Also test the coaxial and optical digital outputs as well as the RCA line output, whose connectors can oxidise or become loose over time. Finally, make sure the network connection (Ethernet or Wi-Fi depending on configuration) and the device's recognition by a controller or app remain stable, a point sometimes affected by old or interrupted software updates.
