AudioQuest Blizzard

The Blizzard is a high-end mains power cable from AudioQuest, designed to replace the cord originally supplied with audio or video equipment. It terminates at one end in an earthed Schuko plug, and at the other in a three-pin IEC C13 connector, the standard fitting on most hi-fi amplifiers, players and sources.

Its conductors are made from PSC+ (Perfect Surface Conductor Plus) copper, a high-purity copper containing few oxides and impurities, with a more regular structure than standard copper. The strands, arranged in a concentric geometry, have also been polished to achieve as flat a surface as possible, a treatment intended to limit conduction irregularities at the microscopic level.

The cable also incorporates a noise-dissipation system patented by AudioQuest, combining a common-mode phase-cancellation network with specific dielectric materials, for additional linear filtering. This is complemented by the patented zero characteristic impedance technology, which allows uncompressed current transfer and ground-noise dissipation intended to limit radio-frequency interference by draining it to earth.

This type of cable is aimed at already well-built hi-fi systems, where the user is looking to reduce background noise and gain clarity on electronics sensitive to electrical noise, rather than entry-level installations where other links in the chain would limit the perceptible result.
