Description
The Digital Coax WEL Signature 72V DBS is a digital coaxial cable designed to connect a digital source (transport, CD player, streamer) to a converter or an amplifier with a built-in DAC. It carries the audio data stream while preserving the signal's timing relationships as much as possible, a central concern in digital audio where the slightest timing alteration degrades the reconstruction of the final analogue signal.
Its centre conductor is made of Solid Perfect-Surface Silver (PSS), a solid silver with a surface treatment designed to limit distortion caused by surface irregularities in the metal. The Triple-Balanced geometry isolates a separate reference ground conductor, while the FEP Air-Tube dielectric provides 117% more air than the Wind model, reducing the influence of the insulating material on the signal. A carbon-based Noise-Dissipation System (NDS), spread across 8 layers, absorbs mechanical resonances and interference that can result in jitter, that timing instability which flattens the soundstage and hardens the tone.
The terminations, available in RCA or XLR, use reusable WEL dual-contact cold-welded plugs, with a Hanging Silver plating applied directly onto extremely pure, machined solid red copper. The sheath is a black braid.

What to check before buying used
As the WEL plugs are reusable and cold-welded, check that they have not been dismantled or re-crimped in a haphazard way, which could affect the electrical contact. Also check the condition of the black braided sheath, which can show marks or fray with prolonged use or repeated handling at the connectors.
