Description
The Lone Ranger is a link cable between amplifier and speakers, supplied assembled and terminated with banana plugs. It belongs to AudioQuest's upper range and is built on ZERO-Tech technology, which aims for a zero characteristic impedance on the link. Its construction stands out at a glance: the positive and negative conductors do not share a single sheath but occupy two separate round structures.
This architecture has two practical consequences. The first concerns ease of installation: two distinct round strands bend and route more easily than a single profile, which matters behind electronics set flush against a wall or along a skirting board. The second concerns the amount of metal used, increased compared with earlier models in the range, without the outer diameter growing accordingly: 11.6 mm, against 14.1 mm for the Brave Heart, which shares the same principle of pole separation.
On the materials side, AudioQuest has chosen solid PSC+ copper conductors, solid strands, not bundles of thin wires. The dielectric assembly combines several elements:
The DBS system keeps the dielectric permanently under tension, independently of the music signal running through the cable; here it is accompanied by shielding designed to limit interference picked up along the length of the link.
This cable is aimed at already accomplished systems, where the speaker link is one of the last links to be upgraded. It is presented as suited to full-range applications, meaning speakers covering the whole spectrum on a single pair of terminals. For speakers with a double terminal block, AudioQuest recommends pairing with the BigFoot BASS to form a bi-wiring configuration. Available lengths range from 2 x 2 m to 2 x 4 m, covering both a compact setup and a room where the electronics are placed to one side.

What to check before buying used
The banana plugs deserve a close check: insufficient tightening or oxidised contacts affects the graphene-carbon shielding and can cut power to the DBS network. It is essential to test the 72 V polarisation unit along its full length, as a dead battery or faulty circuit cancels the intended ZERO-Tech effect. Also inspect the outer sheath near the plugs, the area most exposed to twisting during repeated connections.
