Description
Pegasus is an AudioQuest interconnect cable offered in RCA or double XLR DBS version, intended to connect the components of an analogue hi-fi system. It belongs to the manufacturer's range of high-end interconnect cables, designed to preserve the integrity of the audio signal between the source and the amplification.
The cable is built on solid PSC+ (Perfect Surface Copper+) direction-controlled conductors, a design that limits interaction between strands and reduces distortion linked to copper grain boundaries. It incorporates a so-called level 6 noise-dissipation system, combining a resistive carbon and graphene mesh network, 6% silver-plated RF drain wires and a ZERO-Tech architecture that eliminates the electrostatic field between the signal conductors, allowing linear dissipation of radio-frequency noise across the entire bandwidth. This ZERO-Tech architecture is paired with a 72 V DBS dielectric-bias system, which minimises dielectric noise and linearises the cable's behaviour against RF interference induced by cellular networks, Wi-Fi or satellites. The connector housings are copper-plated, with silver suspended over red copper.
This interconnect cable is aimed at demanding hi-fi systems where the connection between source and amplification must remain as neutral as possible, particularly in environments rich in radio-frequency interference. Its double XLR DBS version also suits high-end balanced configurations.

What to check before buying used
On a cable of this design, the external DBS housing deserves particular attention: it must be intact and continue to provide the 72 V bias to the conductors, otherwise part of the ZERO-Tech technology loses its purpose. Also check that the RCA or XLR connectors show no play or signs of oxidation, and that the sheath has not suffered any pinching or sharp bending likely to damage the polypropylene insulation of the internal conductors.
