Description
The Rocket 11 is a speaker cable from AudioQuest, designed to connect an amplifier to speakers either in a classic Full-Range link or in a Single-BiWire configuration. Its two halves, magnetically independent of one another, allow the bass input and the treble input of a dual-terminal speaker to be driven separately, whilst retaining a single pair of cables between the amplifier and the speakers.
The construction relies on semi-solid concentric conductors in long-grain copper: fewer strands but larger ones, held in a fixed position along the entire length, which limits the strand interactions held responsible for a hardening and blurring of the signal. The dual low-inductance geometry, two conductors per half, is intended to contain the time-domain spread of energy, resulting in greater clarity and a claimed wider extension from bass to treble.

What to check before buying used
On a terminated speaker cable, the key points are at the ends: check that the spades or SureGrip 300 bananas do not move relative to the sheath and that the grip in the terminal remains firm, as a connector that has been forced quickly loses its hold. The silver plating on the contacts tarnishes over time, which has no consequence as long as no greenish corrosion appears near the sheath outlet. Finally, inspect the white PVC sheath along its entire length, particularly at points of tight bending or where it passes under furniture, and check that the two halves of the cable have not been separated or cut back, which would compromise use in Single-BiWire mode.
