The Audio-Technica ATH-ANC3BK is a pair of in-ear headphones fitted with active noise-cancelling technology. It is aimed at those who wish to listen to music or films without being disturbed by surrounding noise, whether on public transport, in the office or on a plane.
Each earpiece houses a miniature microphone tasked with picking up ambient noise such as traffic, ventilation or air conditioning systems. The control unit, which contains the electronics dedicated to this function, then generates an anti-noise wave phase-shifted by 180° relative to the sound picked up. This wave cancels out the unwanted noise without altering the audio signal the user is listening to.

Test the control unit powered by an LR03 battery: a corroded switch or volume potentiometer can cut the signal or cause crackling. Also check the condition of the cable and the jack plug, common points of loose contact on this type of in-ear headphone.
