Description
The X3 Signature is a hi-fi floorstanding speaker from Audiovector, positioned at the top of the X3 series alongside the X3 Super model. It combines two woofer/midrange drivers with LCC aluminium cones and an LCC silk dome tweeter, arranged in a three-way design with a crossover point set at 3100 Hz.
Its technical particularity lies in the use of an Audiovector Evotech Low Compression driver, a proprietary technology from the manufacturer designed to limit the dynamic compression of the driver. The diaphragm rests on a composite aluminium sandwich structure, mounted on a die-cast magnesium alloy chassis with an open structure: this architecture aims at a more dynamic and mechanically less constrained bass reproduction. The frequency response extends from 33 Hz to 26 kHz, with a sensitivity of 90.5 dB and an impedance of between 4 and 6 Ohms. The power handling reaches 220 W.
This floorstanding speaker is aimed at an enthusiast seeking demanding stereo listening in a living room or dedicated listening room. Its one-metre height and 18-kilogramme weight require sufficient space to install it and to pull it slightly away from the walls, a usual condition for making the most of a floorstanding speaker of this size.

What to check before buying used
Check the condition of the suspensions on the LCC aluminium cone woofer/midrange drivers, which are prone to sagging or hardening after several years: they determine how well the bass holds up. Also inspect the tweeter's silk dome, which is fragile to knocks and handling marks, as well as the cabinetry and veneer of the speakers, whose corners and base may show marks due to the speaker's weight. A listening check across the full 33 Hz – 26 kHz range makes it possible to spot any shift in filtering at the crossover point.
