Description
The Arranger is a wired, open-back circumaural headphone from Austrian Audio. It is aimed at attentive listening, whether at home or on the move, and positions itself as a serious alternative to traditional high-end headphones, with a structure designed to last.
The headphones are built around a 44 mm large-excursion driver, fitted with a DLC-coated diaphragm and a ring magnet. This architecture allows an extended frequency response of 5 Hz to 30 kHz, total harmonic distortion below 0.1% at 1 kHz, and a sensitivity of 110 dB SPL/V. With an impedance of 25Ω and an input power of 155 mW, they can be driven directly by mobile devices, without a dedicated amplifier.
The detachable cable is 3 metres long and ends in a 3.5 mm jack plug (TRS), supplied with a 3.5 mm to 6.3 mm adaptor. The connector on the headphone side is a balanced 4-pin type, which allows the optional use of balanced Pentaconn or 5-pin XLR cables.
These headphones will suit audiophiles seeking an open, detailed listening experience at home, as well as sound engineers working in a quiet environment, given that the open-back design does not isolate from external noise and lets sound escape outwards.
Their metal structure and foldable format make them easy to transport, a rare feature for an open-back headphone of this type. The earpads, in suede-effect faux leather, and the headband, are replaceable, allowing the headphones to be maintained over the long term.

What to check before buying used
On these open-back headphones, the earpad foams and the headband cushion are the first elements to check: compressed, torn or stained fabric affects comfort and sometimes sound quality. The balanced 4-pin connector on the headphone side must accept the original 3.5 mm jack cable or any replacement Pentaconn/XLR cable without play or poor contact. The 44 mm driver should also be tested across the full frequency range to rule out any parasitic noise or imbalance between the two channels.
