Description

The ASW610 is a subwoofer from B&W, intended to complement a home cinema or stereo system by extending the low-frequency response. Within the range, it sits as a compromise between the less powerful ASW608 model and the ASW610XP, which offers a higher maximum output power.

Its 250 mm driver is sized to move large volumes of air, allowing it to deliver low frequencies with scale, even at high sound levels. The onboard amplification, of Class D type and audiophile design, delivers a power of 200 W. This Class D architecture is known for its good energy efficiency, allowing the subwoofer to maintain efficient operation even when driven at maximum level, whether for music or action scenes in film.

This subwoofer is aimed at a user wishing to reinforce the bass of a stereo or home cinema system without targeting the brand's top-of-range models, while still benefiting from sufficient power reserve for the most dynamic passages of a soundtrack or musical recording.

What to check before buying used

When buying used, it is worth checking the condition of the 250 mm driver's cone, which may show signs of wear, tearing or sagging after several years of intensive use. The built-in Class D amplifier also deserves particular attention: testing it in operation at different volume levels helps confirm the absence of hum, cutouts or distortion, which can indicate ageing of the internal electronic components.
