Description
The B&W CCM663 is an in-ceiling speaker designed to be installed in the ceiling, following a philosophy of discreet integration into a room's architecture. It belongs to the brand's range of high-end ceiling speakers, designed for installations where sound is to be diffused without traditional speakers being visible.
The 25 mm aluminium dome tweeter, derived from Nautilus technology, is pivoting: it rotates to allow the direction of the treble to be adjusted according to the listening position, a valuable feature when the speaker is recessed at height and therefore cannot be physically reoriented like a floorstanding speaker. The woofer/midrange driver sits on a rigid moulded chassis, intended to limit unwanted vibrations from the mounting surface during sound reproduction. A three-position equalisation selector also allows the sound to be adapted according to the room's acoustics or the installation location. The maximum amplification power handling is 130 W.
This model is aimed at those who wish to install a discreet ceiling-mounted sound system, whether for a living room, a home cinema room, or a space where visual aesthetics take precedence over the presence of conventional speakers.

What to check before buying used
When buying used, the condition of the chassis and the pivoting tweeter should be checked, particularly the flexibility of its pivot mechanism, as well as the proper functioning of the three-position equalisation selector, a mechanical component that can wear or oxidise over time. Checking the QuickDogs mounting system is also recommended, as its clamping legs are stressed during the fitting and removal of the speaker from the ceiling.
