Description
The B&W CCM682 is a ceiling speaker intended for flush installation, designed to deliver quality sound without occupying any visible space in a room. It fits directly into the ceiling and is suited to distributed audio installations as well as discreet listening systems.
It is built around a 200 mm woofer/midrange driver with a Kevlar cone, mounted on a rigid moulded chassis, paired with a 25 mm Nautilus aluminium dome tweeter. This tweeter is swivelling: it pivots to allow the direction of the treble to be adjusted according to the listening position, an important feature for a ceiling-mounted speaker where the listening axis cannot be altered after installation. The 30 mm voice coil and 100 mm magnet contribute to the efficiency and reliability of the unit, for a maximum amplification power of 150 W.
The CCM682 also features a three-position equalisation selector, allowing the sound response to be adapted to the acoustic characteristics of the ceiling and the room, along with carefully selected crossover components and gold-plated connection terminals.
This model is aimed at those who want sound distribution integrated into a room's architecture, without visible floorstanding or shelf speakers: living room, kitchen, office or living space where aesthetics take priority while still seeking refined sound reproduction.

What to check before buying used
When buying used, it is worth checking the condition of the Kevlar cone on the woofer/midrange driver, which should show no tears or deformation, as well as the correct operation of the tweeter's swivel mechanism, which can seize up over time. It is also useful to check that the three-position equalisation selector switches correctly and that the gold-plated connection terminals show no signs of oxidation or poor contact, particularly if the speaker has been removed from an existing ceiling.
