Description
The CT7.5 LCRS is an in-wall/in-ceiling speaker intended for home cinema installations, designed to be discreetly integrated into a cabinet or dedicated enclosure. It belongs to B&W's Custom Theater 700 range and is the entry-level model in this series. Its versatility allows it to be used equally as a left, centre, right or surround channel within the same multichannel installation.
The 25 mm soft dome tweeter benefits from a Nautilus tube loading, a technology designed to limit internal resonances for more accurate treble reproduction, combined with a first-order crossover filter that minimises degradation of the signal transmitted to the driver. The 180 mm midrange/bass driver uses an aramid fibre cone, a material valued for its rigidity. The crossover frequency is set at 4 kHz. With a sensitivity of 92 dB SPL (2.83 V, 1 m) and a nominal impedance of 8 ohms (4.6 ohms minimum), it requires only between 50 W and 120 W of amplification power into 8 ohms on unclipped programme material. Its frequency response is stated as 55 Hz to 22 kHz at ±3 dB on reference axis, with dispersion under 2 dB over more than 60° horizontally and more than 10° vertically.
This model is aimed at home cinema installations wishing to integrate the drivers into the room's architecture rather than using freestanding or stand-mounted speakers. Its compactness and in-wall/in-ceiling design make it well suited to multichannel systems where several identical units are arranged around the listener, for front channels or surround channels.

What to check before buying used
On an in-wall speaker of this type, attention should be paid to the condition of the aramid fibre cone on the 180 mm driver and to the surrounding suspension, which can harden or crack over time. Also check the tweeter's soft dome, which can become deformed or punctured following an impact, as well as the condition of the protective grille and the fixing system intended for wall or ceiling mounting.
