Description
The Pulse Soundbar+ is a connected soundbar from Bluesound, designed to integrate with an existing TV setup and improve its sound reproduction. It supports Dolby Atmos, a format that positions sounds within a three-dimensional space around the listener, for a more immersive listening experience with films, games and music.
It houses eight speakers powered by Class D amplification, for a total output of 120 watts geared towards deep bass and rich sonic detail. A four-core processor, specifically designed for audio processing, manages high-speed sound delivery to maintain playback quality. The HDMI ARC/eARC connection allows the soundbar to be linked to a television with a single cable and centralises control, including via an existing IR remote or the RC1 remote.
On the listening side, the unit streams music services, accesses personal music libraries and receives HD aptX Bluetooth streams from a phone or any compatible device. It works with Amazon Alexa and Siri for voice control, with AirPlay 2 for streaming from an Apple device, and can be finely tuned via the equalisers in the BluOS app.
This soundbar is aimed at anyone wishing to improve their television's sound without adding multiple separate speakers, while retaining the option to expand into a wireless home cinema system: it can be paired with a Pulse Sub+ subwoofer and a pair of Pulse Flex rear speakers to form a complete surround set-up.
What to check before buying used
With a connected soundbar of this type, the first step is to check that Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connect normally and that the BluOS app properly recognises the unit for updates and equalisation settings. Test each input, particularly the HDMI ARC/eARC connection to the television, as well as the operation of the associated IR remote. Listen to all eight speakers at various volume levels to detect any crackling or channel loss, particularly in the bass.
