The Virtually Invisible 300 are wireless rear surround speakers by Bose, designed exclusively to be paired with the SoundTouch 300 soundbar. Their role is to reproduce the surround channels of a home cinema set-up, bringing an enveloping sound to films, sports broadcasts or television programmes.
Their height of around 10 cm illustrates the emphasis on discretion: these speakers are designed to blend visually into a room while actively contributing to the sound stage. They come with two wireless receivers, which allow them to be connected to the SoundTouch 300 soundbar without any cabling between the front and rear of the room.
This system can be complemented by the Acoustimass 300 wireless bass module, which shares the same approach to discretion and wireless connection, with a range of around 10 metres. Together, the soundbar, surround speakers and subwoofer form a modular set-up that can be expanded in stages according to requirements.
These speakers are aimed at those who already own, or are considering, a SoundTouch 300 soundbar and wish to move from stereo or virtual listening to genuine rear surround sound, without adding extra cables or visible units to the living room.
What to check before buying used
Check that both wireless receivers are present and working, as these are what provide the link to the SoundTouch 300 soundbar: without them, the speakers cannot be used. Also check the condition of each speaker's power cable and listen for any crackling or dropouts once pairing has been carried out. As compatibility is exclusive to the SoundTouch 300, make sure the seller clearly states the associated soundbar model.
