Description
The Cabasse Alcyone 2 are small-format satellite speakers, designed to integrate into a home cinema or hi-fi system without imposing any visual bulk. They follow on from the iO range, continuing Cabasse's approach to miniaturisation.
Each satellite measures 99 mm in diameter and weighs 700 grams. This reduced format makes them easy to position around a listening space or a screen, without requiring a cabinet or a bulky stand.
The Alcyone 2 sit on a magnetic base, a principle already found on the iO mounted on a 16 cm diameter base. This system allows each speaker to be angled in any direction, to precisely adjust the dispersion angle according to the layout of the room. A dedicated stand is also available using the same mounting principle.
This pack is aimed at those wishing to put together a compact home cinema or multichannel system, particularly when available space or aesthetic constraints call for discreet speakers. The adjustable base makes installation easier as peripheral satellites or rear channels.
What to check before buying used
Check the condition of the woofer suspensions on each satellite, which can stiffen or crack over time and affect low-frequency reproduction. Also inspect the adjustable magnetic base: a seized mechanism or oxidised contact will prevent the chosen angle from being held. Finally, examine the cabinet and protective grille for any impacts, cracks or signs of oxidation on the metal fittings.
