Description
The Cabasse Archipel 17 ICP is an in-wall/ceiling speaker built around a coaxial driver, an architecture that combines woofer and tweeter on a single axis for a compact size that makes integration into a wall or ceiling easier.
The 17 cm woofer delivers powerful, controlled bass, despite the limited enclosure volume typical of this type of in-wall/ceiling speaker. The orientable tweeter allows the signal dispersion to be adjusted even when the installation configuration does not naturally favour directional listening.
Particular attention has been paid to the finish: two pairs of grilles are supplied with the speaker, one round and one square, originally white and paintable to suit the desired decor. These grilles are held in place by magnets, which makes fitting and removal straightforward.
This speaker is aimed at those wishing to integrate a discreet sound solution into a ceiling or wall, without giving up balanced listening, whether for a living room, a reception room, or a multiroom installation.

What to check before buying used
With this type of in-wall/ceiling speaker, it is worth checking the condition of the 17 cm woofer's suspension, as its flexibility determines how well the bass holds up over time. The tweeter's orientation mechanism is also worth checking: a seized or overly loose pivot impairs adjustment of the dispersion. It is also advisable to confirm that the magnetic grilles are present and fit securely, and to inspect the mounting frame for any signs of impact or deformation from a previous installation.
