Description
The Cabasse Cinéole 2.1 is an active sound system made up of two satellites and a subwoofer, designed to accompany a television or a compact home cinema set-up. Part of the manufacturer's Océo range, it aims to deliver a full sound without adding excessive bulk around the screen.
The two satellites are built on a 2-way coaxial technology: the tweeter is positioned at the centre of the woofer/midrange driver, a layout that ensures consistent sound regardless of listening angle. With a diameter of 13 cm and a sensitivity of 91 dB, they remain discreet while being adjustable, whether mounted on a stand or via magnetic wall fixing. The active Santorin 21C subwoofer houses a 21 cm woofer and handles most of the bass, with a stated frequency response of 35 Hz to 22 kHz.
Amplification is built into the system: each satellite receives 25 W, the subwoofer has 85 W, for a total of 135 W nominal power, rising to 270 W peak. This distribution allows the satellites to be relieved of low frequencies, preserving their compact size without sacrificing sound level.
This system is aimed at those looking to improve the sound of a television or a small multimedia set-up without installing a bulky home cinema system. The compact size of the satellites and the option of wall mounting are particularly well suited to living rooms where space around the screen is limited.

What to check before buying used
On the coaxial satellites, check that the central tweeter has not suffered any impact and that the stand or magnetic wall mount fixings hold firmly without play. On the Santorin 21C subwoofer, listen to the 21 cm woofer at low volume to detect any sign of worn suspension or diaphragm rubbing. Also test the built-in amplification on each channel, satellites and subwoofer, to rule out any crackling or cutting out.
