Description
The Cabasse IO2 is a two-way satellite speaker designed to integrate into a speaker system from the IO2 range. It is built around a coaxial midrange-tweeter driver, a configuration in which the two transducers are aligned on a single axis so as to make the emission points of the midrange and treble frequencies coincide.
This coaxial coincidence principle is directly inherited from the brand's Baltic speakers, whose architecture the IO2 adopts. The coaxial driver carries the reference DOM25/13F15 and benefits from the AIRE technology developed by Cabasse, as well as Kaladex and Duocell diaphragms, two materials used in the manufacture of the transducers' cones and domes.
By bringing the technical solutions developed for the Baltic models to a satellite format, the IO2 is intended for use as a complementary or secondary speaker within a larger installation, where precision of reproduction and spatial coherence at the coaxial listening point are sought.
What to check before buying used
When buying used, it is worth checking the condition of the Kaladex and Duocell diaphragms on the coaxial driver, which may show signs of deformation, detachment or ageing depending on storage and usage conditions. Checking the integrity of the tweeter dome, which is often more fragile, as well as the midrange suspension, helps to confirm the coaxial transducer is working properly before purchase.
