Description
The Murano is a coaxial-technology bookshelf speaker from Cabasse, the most compact model in the Artis range. Designed and developed in France, it is assembled and inspected at the Plouzané workshops.
It incorporates the BC13 triaxial driver, the same technology found in the brand's flagship La Sphère and L'Océan systems. This driver is paired with an aluminium waveguide specifically developed to work with the Murano's woofer.
The bass is handled by a 17ND36 woofer designed specifically for this model. Its concave honeycomb-structure cone offers high rigidity and good damping, allowing large excursions without distortion. It is driven by a long voice coil sitting within a 45 mm gap, inside a four-kilogram motor.
Cabasse measured this speaker in an anechoic chamber, on-axis and across 360°, in order to control its directivity and the distribution of the sound energy it radiates into the room.
The Murano is aimed at a listener seeking a compact bookshelf speaker, suited to near-field listening or a stereo system in a limited space, without giving up the demanding standards of the brand's larger designs.
What to check before buying used
Check the condition of the 17ND36 woofer's suspensions and confirm there is no distortion of the cone after large excursions. The BC13 triaxial driver and its aluminium waveguide should be free of impact marks or oxidation that could affect the directivity measured at the factory. Also examine the cabinet: damaged veneer or varnish, as well as missing or warped protective grilles, may indicate unsuitable storage or transport.
