Description
The Cabasse Alcyone 2 5.1 Pack is a complete home cinema set, bringing together five satellites and an active subwoofer. It allows a living room to be equipped with surround sound without multiplying visible volumes, each satellite adopting a compact format designed to blend into a living space.
Each of the five Alcyone 2 satellites features a 100 mm 8T15 full-range driver with a cellulose fibre cone, offering a sensitivity of 87 dB and an impedance of 8 Ω. Their frequency response extends from 160 Hz to 20 kHz, with bass handled by the active Santorin 17M2 subwoofer. This unit features a 17 cm woofer delivering 100 W continuous (200 W peak) over a bandwidth of 32 to 300 Hz, with a crossover point set at 160 Hz to ensure a seamless link with the satellites.
Each satellite sits on a pivoting magnetic base, allowing several installation options: placement on furniture, wall mounting, or stand mounting. The subwoofer, meanwhile, takes the form of a compact 30 × 30 × 30 cm cube, easy to position near a TV unit or in a corner of a room.

What to check before buying used
On the Alcyone 2 satellites, check the condition of the 8T15 full-range driver cone (no tears or dents) as well as the stability of the pivoting magnetic base, which can sometimes be weakened after years of handling. On the Santorin 17M2 subwoofer, test the built-in amplification and listen to the 17 cm woofer suspension for any rubbing noise or visible sagging. Finally, check that all five satellites produce an even sound, as a difference in tonal character may indicate a worn driver.
