What to check before buying used
The BC17 coaxial driver deserves careful inspection: the woofer/midrange suspension should be supple but without tears, and the central tweeter waveguide free of impacts or signs of oxidation. Also check the brushed aluminium plinth, which is prone to micro-scratches and surface oxidation on poorly maintained units. A test at moderate volume can reveal any rubbing noise in the driver's motor, a sign of voice coil misalignment.
