Description
The Santorin 25 M3 is an active subwoofer designed by Cabasse to complement a multichannel system or a pair of stereo speakers. Its compact design aims to ease integration into a listening room without imposing major placement constraints.
The single 250 mm cellulose fibre driver disperses low frequencies according to a downward-firing 360° radiation principle, a technique paired with a bass-reflex loading. This configuration allows placement near walls or furniture without degrading acoustic performance. The onboard digital amplifier delivers 200 W RMS, with peaks up to 400 W, for a claimed impulse pressure of 111 dB RMS. Frequency response spans from 30 to 160 Hz, with an adjustable crossover frequency from 40 to 180 Hz and a phase adjustment from 0 to 180°, allowing precise time alignment with the main speakers. What to check before buying used
Check that the 250 mm driver shows no sagging or crackling from the suspension, as a subwoofer is often driven hard and this can reveal fatigue in the bass motor. Test the automatic power-on and standby function, as this signal-detection circuit is a common failure point on amplified models. Also inspect the bass-reflex port on the underside of the cabinet, which can become clogged or cracked depending on storage conditions, and listen at both moderate and high volume to detect any noise from the built-in digital amplifier.
