Description
The Stream AMP 100 is a network amplifier from Cabasse, designed to power passive speakers directly without going through a traditional hi-fi amplifier. Connected to the home network via Ethernet or Wi-Fi, it provides access to music stored on the local network, internet radio and Deezer and Spotify streaming services, directly from the StreamCONTROL application.
The unit has a digital optical input for retrieving sound from a television or CD player, two analogue inputs, and a USB input allowing playback of audio files stored on a USB stick or external hard drive. NFC technology allows instant Bluetooth AptX pairing with a smartphone or tablet, for quick streaming of content without going through the network.
On the output side, the Stream AMP 100 offers 4 speaker outputs with impedance adjustment, to tailor the power delivered according to the speakers connected. Its configuration is flexible: use in stereo with one or two pairs of speakers, or in mono with two or four separate speaker groups. This flexibility notably allows up to 8 Archipel range In-Ceiling speakers from Cabasse to be powered from a single unit installed in an equipment rack.
The Stream AMP 100 also offers 4 room adaptation profiles, dedicated to Cabasse speakers: simply select the model used and the profile corresponding to its location in the room in the StreamCONTROL application to adjust the sound, particularly regarding bass extension.
This model is intended for multiroom installations, whether for classic home use with one or two pairs of speakers or a larger deployment, discreetly integrated into a professional rack to serve several rooms or several groups of built-in speakers. Wi-Fi control from any room in the house also makes it a suitable solution for those wishing to centralise audio distribution without multiplying amplifiers.
What to check before buying used
Test each speaker output along with its associated impedance setting, as a fault may be limited to a single channel. Check the Wi-Fi and Ethernet connection as well as NFC/Bluetooth pairing, which may require a reset or firmware update on a unit left unused for a long time. Also check the optical input and USB port, which can sometimes suffer from loose connections after intensive use.
