Description
The Cabasse Stream Source is a network player designed to bridge a traditional hi-fi system with digital and dematerialised audio sources. It is inserted into an existing setup to add streaming functions that it does not natively possess.
The unit features a digital-to-analogue converter tasked with reproducing audio files stored or streamed over a network. The Bluetooth connection is triggered instantly thanks to NFC, which simplifies pairing with a smartphone or tablet without complex handling. A USB input also allows a memory stick or external hard drive to be connected, its contents becoming accessible over the network via the built-in DLNA server.
This network player is aimed at owners of a classic hi-fi system, traditional amplifier and speakers, who wish to add digital music playback without changing their entire setup. It is suited to everyday listening where physical sources and dematerialised files are used alternately.

What to check before buying used
The digital-to-analogue converter and the network stage are the components to test first: request an actual listening test via streaming and via the USB input to check for the absence of dropouts or background noise. The NFC module and Bluetooth pairing should be tried with a smartphone to confirm instant recognition. It is also worth ensuring that the DLNA server correctly detects an external USB drive, as some older software updates may limit compatibility with current file formats.
