Description
The Pearl Keshi is the most compact format in Cabasse's connected range: a 2.1 set combining an amplified subwoofer and two satellites with a suspended design, engineered to limit the transmission of vibrations to the surface on which they rest. The set operates without separate electronics, as audio file playback and amplification are built into the system.
The available power reaches 1050 watts RMS in total, split into 300 W RMS on each of the two satellites and 450 W RMS on the bass section, with peaks stated at 600 W and 900 W. This headroom accounts for the 115 dB peak output and the absence of clipping on the most dynamic passages. The frequency response covers 30 to 23,000 Hz, a bass extension not expected from satellites measuring 101 x 80 x 80 mm and weighing 600 grammes, which is delivered by the subwoofer. The midrange-treble relies on the Dom55 driver.
On the dematerialised source side, the system plays WAV, MP3, AAC, WMA, AIFF, FLAC and ALAC formats, covering both compressed libraries and lossless files.
This Pearl Keshi is aimed at the listener who refuses to choose between available space and sound level: a modest-sized living room, bedroom, office or second listening room, where conventional speakers would be too bulky. What to check before buying used
The subwoofer houses most of the electronics: check that it powers on, connects to the network and accepts pairing with the satellites, as the link between the elements is the weak point of this type of system. Listen to each satellite separately at moderate then sustained level, as a tired full-range driver reveals itself through a hoarse hiss or premature distortion. Check the condition of the satellites' suspension parts, the absence or breakage of which compromises the intended decoupling. Finally, make sure the system accepts a software update, a guarantee of lasting compatibility with the control app.
