Description
The Pearl Sub is an active, connected subwoofer from Cabasse, designed to work exclusively with the brand's Lifestyle speakers: iO3, Riga 2 and Baltic 5. Rather than a simple bass reinforcement unit, it acts as the heart of the system: it houses the amplification intended for the speakers themselves, removing the need for a separate amplifier. The system also integrates audio streaming, controlled from the StreamCONTROL app on iOS and Android.
The subwoofer is built around a 25 cm woofer with 30 mm linear excursion, powered by dedicated bass amplification of 1000 W RMS / 2000 W peak. Two additional channels, each delivering 300 W RMS / 600 W peak, power the satellite speakers via four carbon terminal blocks at the rear, for a maximum rated power of 300 W per speaker. DEAP technology adapts the digital signal sent according to the associated speaker model, while an automatic room correction system (CRCS), paired with a supplied microphone, adjusts the acoustic rendering according to the listening space.
This subwoofer is aimed at those who already own, or are considering acquiring, one of the compatible Cabasse Lifestyle speakers, and who want a compact system combining amplification, bass management and network streaming, without multiplying separate components. It is suited to listening in a living room or living space where the system's aesthetic matters as much as its sound performance.

What to check before buying used
The design is built around a raw steel stand, cut, bent and then chromed, which suspends the subwoofer's sphere above the floor; four layers of matt paint cover the sphere itself. When buying used, it is worth checking the condition of this stand and its chrome finish, as well as the integrity of the sphere's matt coating, which is prone to scratches and wear. The operation of the CRCS calibration microphone and the Wi-Fi connection with the StreamCONTROL app are also worth testing, as are the four carbon terminal blocks at the rear, which connect to the satellite speakers.
