Description
The SPX 300 is a mains cable from Siltech, designed to connect an audio device to the mains supply in place of the original cord supplied by manufacturers. It belongs to the category of so-called "audiophile" mains cables, intended for those who wish to take as much care over their system's power supply as over the other connections in the chain.
Its construction is based on silver-plated OFC copper conductors, a three-conductor plus shielding structure, and insulation combining FEP and PE. What to check before buying used
The contact quality of the IEC or PowerCon connectors deserves a visual check before any connection: pins, locking mechanism and crimping should show no trace of oxidation or play. The shielding and sheath should remain flexible and continuous along the entire length, with no pinching or cuts indicating a break in the internal conductors. As silver plating can tarnish over time, slight surface oxidation remains without consequence as long as the cable's electrical continuity is verified.
