Description
The Cayin MT-35 MKII Bluetooth is a tube integrated amplifier offering two selectable operating modes: triode mode and ultra-linear mode. It combines the classic connectivity of a valve amplifier with a Bluetooth 5.0 module, allowing wireless streaming in addition to the wired inputs.
Ultra-linear mode delivers 2 x 18 W into 4 and 8 ohms, with reinforced bass and dynamics suited to energetic music. Triode mode reduces power but offers a sound described as warmer and richer, geared towards jazz, classical or vocals. Frequency response extends from 5 Hz to 55 kHz, with harmonic distortion of 1% at 1 kHz and a signal-to-noise ratio of 89 dB. Input sensitivity of 300 mV and input impedance of 100 kΩ define its compatibility with line-level sources. On the wireless side, Bluetooth 5.0 supports the SBC, AAC and LDAC codecs, the latter enabling high-resolution audio transmission.

What to check before buying used
Both triode mode and ultra-linear mode should operate without hum or audible distortion, as this often reveals worn valves or ageing capacitors in the circuit. Check the firmness and travel of the volume and selector potentiometers, which are often prone to crackling on older units. The Bluetooth module deserves a pairing and connection-stability test in LDAC, as some units show intermittent dropouts with age.
