Clearaudio Clarify

The Clearaudio Clarify is a tonearm designed to equip a turntable. It stands out for its carbon fibre construction and a gimbal system resting on magnetic bearings, an approach that aims to eliminate any mechanical contact between the moving parts of the arm.

The absence of direct contact between surfaces results in an absence of mechanical friction when tracking the groove, which limits parasitic disturbances transmitted to the cartridge. The anti-skating adjustment also uses a magnetic system rather than a spring or wire, for continuous, smooth action on the arm's trajectory. The micrometric adjustable counterweight allows precise adjustment of the cartridge's tracking force. The Clear Audio Direct Wire Plus cabling, 1.1 m long and terminated with an RCA plug, connects the cartridge directly to the phono preamplifier without any intermediate connector in the signal path.

Geometrically, the Clarify offers an effective length of 9 inches (239.31 mm), a pivot-to-stylus distance of 222 mm and a total length of 335 mm. The offset angle is 25.54°, the tracking error angle 0.123°/cm and the average skating factor 0.43, values which determine the accuracy of groove tracking across the entire surface of the record. Mounting uses the Clearaudio standard, with a bore diameter of 24.85 mm, an inner diameter of 66.0 mm, an outer diameter of 120.9 mm and an overhang of 17.31 mm.

This arm is aimed at vinyl enthusiasts looking for a cartridge support capable of accommodating a wide weight range, from 2.5 to 17 grams, which opens up compatibility with numerous moving coil or moving magnet cartridges.
