Description
The Jubilee MM is a moving magnet (MM) cartridge from Clearaudio, designed to be fitted to a turntable tonearm. It was introduced to celebrate the brand's 40th anniversary and shares its Panzerholz body with the flagship Jubilee MC cartridge from the same vintage.
The cartridge body is made from Panzerholz, a laminate composed of several layers of Baltic birch wood compressed under 60 tonnes of pressure with advanced adhesives, a material also found in the platters of Clearaudio's most accomplished turntables. The elliptical stylus, mounted on an aluminium cantilever, offers a tracking capacity of 90 μm and a compliance of 15 μ/mN. The output voltage of 3.6 mV, combined with a load resistance of 47 kΩ and a load capacitance of 100 pF, makes it compatible with the vast majority of phono stages on the market. Channel separation of 26 dB and a channel balance of 0.4 dB at 1 kHz reflect careful matching between the two channels.
This cartridge is aimed at vinyl enthusiasts seeking a balanced playback across a wide musical repertoire, with no particular constraint on the choice of phono preamplifier thanks to its high output and standard load.

What to check before buying used
The elliptical aluminium stylus is the part most exposed to wear: examine its tip under magnification to detect any flat spot or asymmetry indicating a worn diamond. Also check that the cantilever is not bent or detached from its mount, as an impact may have deformed it without this being immediately visible to the naked eye. Checking the output voltage and channel balance with an oscilloscope or dedicated software confirms whether the cartridge retains its original performance.
