Description
The Outer Limit is a stainless steel outer record stabiliser ring from Clearaudio. It sits around the outer edge of the record, unlike a conventional centre weight, and is used together with the supplied Locator centring device.
Weighing 1.5 kg, the ring adds rigidity to the record during playback. This additional mass reduces the negative effects of slightly warped vinyl by helping the record sit more firmly against the turntable platter.
The Locator centring device, made from Lexan material, is used to correctly position the Outer Limit ring on the record. It is specifically designed for Clearaudio turntables.
This accessory is intended for owners of Clearaudio turntables wishing to improve playback stability, particularly where some records show slight warping.

What to check before buying used
The Outer Limit ring shows no mechanical wear as such, but check for any knocks or deformation to the stainless steel, which would compromise its flatness and therefore its clamping effectiveness. Also make sure the Lexan Locator centring device is present: without it, precise positioning of the ring on the record becomes unreliable. Inspect the surface in contact with the vinyl as well, to rule out any scratches that could mark records.
