Description
The Talismann V2 Gold is a moving coil (MC) cartridge from Clearaudio, designed to be fitted to the tonearm of a turntable and convert the micro-variations of the groove into an electrical signal. It belongs to the German manufacturer's second-generation "V2" range of moving coil cartridges.
Its design is based on a symmetrical arrangement of eight magnets, combined with windings made of 24-carat gold. The stylus is carried by a rigid boron cantilever, tipped with a diamond cut to the Micro HD profile, a combination designed to reproduce the finest details engraved in the groove with precision and without excessive mechanical stress on the record.

What to check before buying used
The diamond suspension and boron cantilever alignment are the sensitive points of this MC cartridge: a shock, even a slight one, during fitting or transport can throw off the alignment without this being visible to the naked eye. The gold windings and eight-magnet structure cannot be repaired in the event of electrical failure, with only a stylus replacement through Clearaudio being possible. Also check the condition of the ebony body, which is prone to micro-cracks, as well as the stated number of hours of use, as a worn diamond loses its tracking precision well before the wear becomes audible.
