Description
The Consonance a18P is a stereo power amplifier designed to deliver substantial energy to speakers, without relying on a built-in preamplifier. It is intended for systems where the power stage is separate from the rest of the chain, following a logic of separation of functions.
Its Dual Mono architecture places the left and right channels in independent power circuits, each built around seven pairs of high-current transistors mounted on a thick copper busbar, itself bolted to an extruded heatsink visible on the sides of the unit. The power supply relies on a massive toroidal transformer with independent secondary windings and a bank of eight 10,000 µF reservoir capacitors per channel, enough to sustain the current peaks demanded by difficult loads. Cool Class A technology, which combines the principles of Class AB and Class A, aims for sonic linearity comparable to Class A without requiring the high power consumption that this normally entails.
