M2Tech DAC EVO

The M2Tech DAC EVO is a digital-to-analogue converter designed specifically to be paired with the HiFace Evo, a digital transport from the same brand. Unlike a general-purpose DAC, it has no USB input: its role is to receive the digital signal via a dedicated I2S link, working directly alongside the HiFace Evo, which itself handles the USB to I2S conversion.

This two-box architecture separates the reception of the digital signal from its conversion to analogue, an approach found among certain manufacturers keen to isolate the stages that are sensitive to electrical and digital interference.

The DAC EVO accepts several types of digital inputs, with maximum resolutions that vary depending on the link used. The I2S input, designed for pairing with the HiFace Evo, supports resolutions up to 32-bit/192 kHz. The coaxial input goes up to 24-bit/192 kHz, while the optical input is limited to 24-bit/96 kHz, a typical hierarchy linked to the physical constraints of each type of link.

This DAC is aimed at a user already equipped with a HiFace Evo or wishing to build a modular digital system, where transport and conversion are handled by separate units rather than a single device. It is also suitable for anyone with standard coaxial or optical digital sources, such as a CD player or a digital tuner.
