Description
The Dali E-12 F is an active subwoofer designed to complement a speaker system or an audio-video installation by reinforcing low frequencies. It has its own built-in amplifier, allowing it to operate independently without relying on the power stage of other speakers.
The 30 cm driver, with an aluminium polymer cone, is paired with a substantial magnet system and long-throw voice coil, designed to faithfully follow the signal sent by the amplifier. This Class D amplifier delivers 170W RMS (220W peak) and covers a frequency response of 28 Hz to 190 Hz, with a maximum sound level rated at 112 dB. The active low-pass filter is adjustable between 40 and 120 Hz, and the bass-reflex port is tuned to a frequency of 36 Hz.
This subwoofer is aimed at those wishing to reinforce the bass of a home cinema system or a pair of stereo speakers, particularly in setups where floor space allows positioning against a wall: the bass-reflex port, facing downwards, allows this kind of installation thanks to the aluminium base on which the unit rests.

What to check before buying used
With this type of active subwoofer, the Class D amplifier and its power supply are worth testing under sustained load to rule out any risk of thermal cut-out or start-up hum. The 30 cm driver should be checked at the suspension and aluminium polymer cone, with no sign of deformation or coil rubbing. Also check the seal of the bass-reflex port located underneath the unit and the condition of the aluminium base, which bears the full weight of the unit on the floor.
